KASTRO’S MYKONOS LITTLE VENICE

Kastro’s in little Venice has definitely been my most treasured discovery this summer. Located on the side of world famous Paraportiani Church, you can have your meal sitting on the balcony in the edge of a small Cycladic home.

The Experience

The place is vibrant, the service is excellent, the location is as unique as you can get. Purely idyllic.  This is a place I will recommend to anyone who asks me for tips on the island. Not only because it is so original but also due to the fact that everything we tasted was delicious.

The Food

Everything on the menu seemed delicious, however I had to ask the waiter where was the truffle smell coming from. The waiter described the “Lobster Medallion in Black Truffle Sauce, Carrot puree and Quinoa” and the “Casarecce Pasta with Truffle, Broccoli, Lemon Zest and Mykonian Kopanisti Cheese”. I had to have both so I suggested that we share the dishes. As a result we ended up adding on our order the Rib-Eye too.

Before the main courses we shared two salads the Mykonian and a Quinoa Melon and Prosciutto one. They were good but truly when the Casarecce pasta arrived everything else vanished. The pasta was excellent, very nicely cooked topped with the most amazing truffle sauce and local kopanisti cheese. It was my favorite until the lobster arrived, tenderly cooked juicy and yummy altogether. The Rib-eye steak was also a wonder, the meat was juicy, cooked exactly as we had asked and it was accompanied by sweet potato and celery pureé.

The Dessert

The apocalypse happened though at dessert. We went for the Baklava with kaimaki ice cream. It was a dream come true, a party of flavours, the baklava was crunchy and warm and the ice cream was just perfect. The dessert was topped with a very well-made honey walnut syrup that was neither too sweet nor too much.

It was perfection!
